The Weekly S.C.R.O.L.L.
Here's the tea: I'm obsessed with decaf vanilla chai these days.
The last week was so busy, it went by in a blur. Of the things that stuck with me from the last 7 days, I have to place extra emphasis on all the beaded pieces I’m making for Alchemy’s Holiday Market on December 13th. Like, I’ve been making bag charms, beaded necklaces, and even earrings for weeks on end now. I couldn’t ask for a better way to spend my time between work commitments during a busy holiday season.
S. Scrolling: The next Fyre Fest
If you’ve known me since 2017, you know how big of a deal Fyre Fest was to me. Watching Billy McFarland’s failed attempt at a music festival unfold on Twitter was one of the best days I ever worked in a newsroom, and I’ve been known to watch the subsequent documentaries as a bit of a pick-me-up.
So, when I saw a TikTok of Billy McFarland bragging about the “bathroom barges” he installed for PHNX, the newest iteration of his quest to make money off a music festival, I knew I had to clock in. I’ve long reported on the return of Fyre Fest, starting in 2023 but continuing into 2024. That’s to say, he’s been working on this one for a long time. I was surprised to see he’d made it to an actual island, and even more shocked yesterday when I watched a livestream showing an actual musical performer and dozens of people watching on-the-ground in Honduras.
Congrats to Billy McFarland at finally launching a music event, but even more congrats to me, who got to watch it all happen. Just don’t ask to see the vegetarian option they offered at the PHNX.
